Filipe Vaz Pinto joined the firm in 2002 and became a partner in 2014. He is co-head of the
dispute resolution team and a member of the firm’s board of directors.
He works essentially in international arbitration with a specific focus on arbitrations connected to Portuguese-speaking countries, including Angola, Brasil, Cape Verde, Mozambique and Portugal.
He acts as counsel in a variety of industry sectors, including
aviation,
banking,
construction,
defense,
energy, food and beverage,
infrastructures,
insurance, media and advertising, mining, public-private partnerships, transfers of technology, telecommunications and trusts.
He also acts regularly as Arbitrator and has acted as Arbitral Secretary in domestic and international arbitrations.
Filipe Vaz Pinto is member of the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and a Board Member of the Portuguese Arbitration Association. Previously, he was President of the Portuguese ICC Commission of Arbitration and ADR and Vice President of the Commercial Arbitration Center of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Centro de Arbitragem Comercial da Câmara de Comércio e Indústria Portuguesa).
He regularly participates as lecturer in Postgraduate courses on arbitration and participates as speaker in seminars and conferences.
In 2015, Filipe was awarded with the “40 under Forty Award” organized by Iberian Lawyer which distinguishes 40 lawyers under the age of 40 in Portugal and Spain.
