Partners Miguel Galvão Teles and António Sampaio Caramelo will participate in the colloquium on arbitration, organised by CEJ - Centre for Judicial Studies, in which “The annulment of the decisions of the arbitration courts” will be in discussion.
António Sampaio Caramelo participates in the first session of the day with a presentation focused on “The grounds for annulment of arbitral awards: perspective from a “Lawmaker”.
In the afternoon session, Miguel Galvão Teles will intervene on the “Refusal of arbitrator: substantive and procedural aspects”.
The objective of the colloquium is to allow for an in depth clarification and discussion of the regime of challenges of arbitral decisions and awards before State courts, set forth in the new Portuguese Arbitration Act, aiming particularly at the judges (mostly of Courts of Appeal but also, in certain cases, of first instance courts) who will be requested to provide court assistance to pending arbitral proceedings and to control the final awards rendered by arbitral tribunals after the completion of such proceedings, so that those judges may accomplish in a correct manner the very important duties assigned to the new Act.
The colloquium promoted by CEJ takes place at the auditorium of the Centre for Judicial Studies, from 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., with lunch break.
