David Silva Ramalho will be a speaker at the event "Specializing Training Seminar on Artificial Intelligence, Criminal Justice and Human Rights", organized by The Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights, an NGO supported by the Italian Government, with close relations with the UN, the Europe Council, and the European Union.
The intervention of the criminal lawyer will focus on the risks and opportunities of the use of Artificial Intelligence in the judicial phase of the criminal process, namely its compatibility with the traditional principles of the process, such as the presumption of innocence, publicity, transparency, as well as with the legal framework in force.
David Silva Ramalho will also address the risks of predictive policing, probabilistic analysis of dangerousness, the importation of its conclusions to the judicial phase of the process, and also the use of artificial intelligence to assess evidence, prepare the sentence and fix the penalty. He will speak about the challenges and opportunities of using Artificial Intelligence in criminal proceedings, focusing especially on the trial phase.
