The launch of the book A Life of Causes which pays tribute to José Manuel Galvão Teles took place yesterday 9 December 2014 at the João Morais Leitão Auditorium.
The event was marked by speeches by João Soares da Silva, António Pinto Leite and António Serra Lopes as well as a note from Jorge Sampaio (who was travelling), read by his wife Maria José Ritta. The event’s high point was the honoree’s emotional appreciation speech.
This book with an introduction by Rui Patrício and Miguel de Almada describes the civic and professional life of José Manuel Galvão Teles. Testimonies from several public figures, personal photographs, documents, and the correspondence from his time as Portuguese Ambassador to the United Nations are amongst the curiosities that show the magnitude of spirit of a man entirely dedicated to great causes.
