Morais Leitão announces the appointment of Martim Krupenski as the firm’s new Managing Partner, succeeding Nuno Galvão Teles, who, after 12 years of leadership, will assume the position of Chairman of the Board.
Nuno Galvão Teles was elected Managing Partner in 2012 and will now fulfil his executive duties as Chairman of the Firm. During his tenure, Morais Leitão reinvented itself in the Portuguese market, consolidating a path of significant national and international growth. Through a particularly visionary leadership and a strong commitment to innovation, Morais Leitão has expanded in terms of practice areas, people and offices. The firm now includes nearly 500 people on three continents – Europe, Africa and Asia. Throughout this period, the brand has repositioned itself, updating its position and investing in internal and external innovation, with total professionalisation of its management and pioneering the adoption of legal tech.
The new Managing Partner, Martim Krupenski, has been with the firm for over twenty years and carries a wealth of experience in both law and management. Martim has been a central figure in Morais Leitão’s project. He has been exclusively dedicated to the firm’s management since 2016, having joined the Board as Chief Operating Officer (COO) in 2020, after a successful career as a lawyer specialising in M&A, financial law and capital markets. As Chief Operating Officer, he has contributed significantly to the development and implementation of Morais Leitão’s growth strategy.
For Martim Krupenski, “it is with great honour and commitment that I accept the challenge of taking on the role of Managing Partner at Morais Leitão. I take on this role at a time of intense challenge, both in the Portuguese market and in the sector itself, with an outlook of serene continuity in relation to the path that has been cemented. Morais Leitão is a firm formed almost exclusively from the sublimation of the technical quality of its lawyers, and that is our genetic mark. The strategy and its operational implementation naturally derive from this identity, built collectively.”
Nuno Galvão Teles also expressed his confidence in the new leadership: “I've always admired Martim’s often disconcerting perspective, which stems from his experience and thinking. His non-linear path, having worked in both the professional and management structures, brings a particularly enriching diversity of vision, which will enable him to respond in the best way to the new (and old) challenges facing the sector. As Chairman, I will be here to support him and all the other members of the Board. A 12-year cycle in which I took on the role of Managing Partner has come to an end, and now another is opening with renewed energy to continue the successful path of this extraordinary law firm.”
The new Board, in full exercise as of 21 June 2024, also includes partners Eduardo Verde Pinho, Filipe Vaz Pinto, Luís do Nascimento Ferreira, Magda Viçoso and Tiago Félix da Costa. The Board relies on the enthusiasm and trust of its partners, associates and employees.
