Morais Leitão and Tech4COVID19 present TeamLoan project on worldwide hackathon promoted by the Financial Times
Morais Leitão in collaboration with Tech4Covid19 movement, built an innovative volunteer project called TeamLoan that aims to face the consequences of the pandemic COVID-19.
TeamLoan consists in a digital marketplace in which employeees that are in layoff and unemployment situations can meet companies that have seen their work multiply without having the capacity to respond to it.
Morais Leitão assumed the role of Legal Partner of the project, contributing to its legal operation and to clarify the participating companies about the applicable legal alternatives. This innovative solution istinguishes itself by thinking about the labour market in a completely different way and by providing more efficient responses to the urgent needs of companies, combating unemployment and closing activities and reducing the burden on both the State itself and companies.
The project is now presented to Global Legal Hackaton, a promotion initiative organized by the Financial Times, which brings together the best pandemic-fighting projects presented by the most innovative law firms in a worldwide test of virtual collaboration. This projecs aim to promote the identification and development of solutions to the most complex challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, in collaboration with its clients, partners and civil society.
TeamLoan also intends to be replicable in other countries and over an extended period, continuing to be useful in a phase of transition to the “new normal”.
The platform is already operational, with dozens of registered companies, including the Tourism Innovation Center, the Lisbon City Council, the Portuguese Farmers' Confederation, the Federation of Portuguese Agro-Food Industries, the Association National Public Road Transport of Goods, the Portuguese Association of Accounting Technicians, Beta-i, IPCA, the University of Coimbra, UC Business, amongst others.
