Morais Leitão has had yet another German law trainee (Rechtsreferendar) serving a stage of his legal clerkship (Rechtsreferendariat) at the firm.
Joscha Torweihe, a law graduate from the University of Freiburg and law clerk with the District Court of Cologne, worked from July through September 2019 at the firm’s Lisbon office and was allocated, in line with his preferences, to the Corporate and M&A department, particularly to Team Genesis, and to the intellectual property rights practice.
He had gotten to know Morais Leitão previously, with one of the various groups of German law trainees that frequently visit the firm under the auspices of its German Desk and had learned about the German trainee program in this context.
For Joscha, the experience at Morais Leitão was very positive: “[I]t was a great experience for me. I really enjoyed the friendly environment and the variety of assignments since I have worked in two different departments. It clearly helped me to decide what I want to do with my future career.”
Philipp Melcher, co-coordinator of Morais Leitão’s German Desk, explains that “the program gives trainees an opportunity to work on challenging cases in English language in a leading Portuguese law firm with international reach and client base, and it provides Morais Leitão with valuable input and support from excellent young foreign lawyers. The program is therefore a perfect fit for both sides and testament to the firm’s continuous investment in strong and lasting ties with German-speaking jurisdictions.”
Morais Leitão wishes Joscha, who has already returned to Germany to conclude his traineeship, best of luck and success for his future and looks forward to staying in touch.
