Nicole Fortunato joins European Commission expert group on emerging digital technologies
The European Commission has selected Nicole Fortunato, managing associate in the intellectual property, technology and personal data department, to join the group of experts who will contribute to the studies commissioned by the Directorate-General for Communication Networks, Content and Technologies (DG CNECT). These studies will examine the next generation of emerging digital technologies for the period 2028-2040, from research and development to adoption and implementation.
The participation of these experts will be key to defining the European Union's strategic digital capabilities and identifying the priority technologies for the European Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP10).
The consultation will take place in two main phases:
- Delphi survey (March-April 2025) - a two-round listening process to gather and refine expert opinions on future trends and key digital capabilities.
- Workshop (June 2025) - a working session based on the initial findings of the study, which will guide the development of strategic investment options for the next decade.
All activities will take place online to ensure reach and accessibility for all.
The European Commission underlines the importance of the contribution of the selected experts in shaping Europe's digital future and supporting strategic investment decisions in technological innovation.
