Paula Ponces Camanho elected vice-president of the General Council of the Portuguese Bar Association (OA)

Paula Ponces Camanho, a partner at Morais Leitão, is the new Vice-President of the General Council of the Portuguese Bar Association (OA), joining the list of João Massano, who will preside over the Bar Association (OA) for the next three years.

The current president of the Lisbon Regional Council of the Bar Association was elected President after receiving the most votes, 54.58 per cent, in the second round of the elections.

The new President is committed to ‘uniting the profession, modernising the profession and restoring the prestige of the Bar Association, working to ensure that every lawyer feels valued, represented and prepared for the challenges of the future’.

The elections for OA president were brought forward by Fernanda de Almeida Pinheiro following the entry into force of the new Statutes, which created bodies in the structure and the need to appoint their representatives.
