Between January and September 2009, there were 3.255 insolvency cases registered in court, of which 1.122 were presented by the companies themselves. This represents an increase of 96% comparing with 2008. The total number of insolvency cases rose 55.9% and the number of bankruptcies 40%. And it is expected that this trend will continue.
After the success of the Lisbon seminar and the high number of registrants enrolled, Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles, Soares da Silva, in collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce in Portugal, decided to organize the same event in Oporto, focusing on a more practical approach to the topic.
