GLI – Energy 2024 - Angola

Claudia Santos Cruz and Catarina Levy Osório signed the Angola chapter of the "GLI - Energy 2024" guide, published by the Global Legal Group.

The chapter analyses the energy sector in Angola, highlighting the country as Africa's largest oil producer. Despite this leading position, the sector faces significant economic challenges, resulting from the fall in production and the depreciation of the currency.

The government is implementing a new legal framework to attract investment and develop significant projects such as the Caculo Cabaça hydroelectric plant, which will start generating power in 2026, and the Baynes plant, scheduled for 2025. However, the lack of robust regulations and incentive policies represents an obstacle to the effective implementation of these plans.
