ICLG to Merger Control Laws and Regulations

Pedro de Gouveia e Melo and Dzhamil Oda have signed the latest Portugal chapter of the guide ‘ICLG - Merger Control 2025’, published by the Global Legal Group.

The chapter highlights the legislation and processes relevant to merger control in Portugal, offering a comprehensive analysis of the applicable national and European rules.

The lawyers, both from Morais Leitão's European and Competition Law department, address issues such as jurisdictional thresholds, the substantial tests used by the Competition Authority and the challenges posed by mergers in the digital sector.

The chapter also explores notification mechanisms, deadlines and the implications of non-compliance with mandatory notification rules.
