Inês F. Neves signs article on the relationship between participatory democracy and the Digital Markets Act (DMA)

Inês F. Neves, an associate in the firm's European law and competition team, has written the article ‘No enforcement without representation: how participatory democracy can strengthen the Digital Markets Act’, published in the European Competition Journal. It is the result of her intervention at the symposium ‘Effective DMA Enforcement’, held in Brussels in November 2023.

The study deals in particular with the connection between the Digital Markets Regulation and the principles of participatory democracy, raising the need for the involvement of subject companies and stakeholders in enforcement (centralised in the European Commission), as a requirement for the legitimacy of the DMA.
