João Cortes Martins joined the Firm in September 2020. He is a member of the corporate and M&A team.
His practice focuses on commercial law and company law, particularly in the energy and natural resources and infrastructure sectors. He has participated in various corporate restructuring operations, including mergers and de-mergers, as well as in the acquisition and sale of companies, representing and advising national and international clients at all stages of the deal.
At the same time, he also provides more general legal advice on commercial, corporate and securities law.
He also has significant experience in advising listed and unlisted companies on structuring and implementing their shareholding plans for employees in Portugal, through traditional or leveraged offers, via alternative investment funds (namely Fonds Commun de Placement d'Entreprise or FCPE), direct participation or other shareholding structures.

Law Degree (Católica Lisbon School of Law, 2018). Master´s Degree in Law and Business (Católica Lisbon School of Law, 2020). Semester under the Programme of International Mobility within the Master´s Degree (Maastricht University, Faculty of Law, 2020).
