Fábio Castro Russo

Fábio Castro Russo joined the firm in 2007 and became a partner in 2023. He is a member of the corporate and M&A team.

His practice focuses on corporate law, having significant experience in advising national and international clients on mergers and acquisitions and other corporate restructuring operations, commercial contracts, including joint ventures, and general corporate law and corporate governance matters. He has been involved in a vast number of transactions in various sectors of activity, such as engineering and construction, manufacturing, construction materials, beverages and real estate

He often works on cross-border matters involving legal teams from multiple jurisdictions, including in the Iberian and Lusophone contexts.

Alongside his work as a lawyer, Fábio Castro Russo has a strong academic background, being a guest lecturer at the Portuguese Catholic University (Porto) since 2009, teaching Private Law courses. He has been a member of a relevant number of academic juries (master's theses) and has supervised the preparation of some master's theses, further providing lectures in postgraduate courses at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon. He regularly publishes scientific articles in his areas of interest, being one of the team members of the Portuguese Catholic University’s Commentary to the Civil Code (he is the author of the annotations on the institutes of foundations and, in co-authorship with Nuno Sousa e Silva, on privilégios creditórios). His writings have been quoted in rulings by the Portuguese Supreme Court and Supreme Administrative Court.
 
Education

Law Degree (Católica Porto School of Law, 2007), having been granted the Professor Francisco Carvalho Guerra award (highest graduation grade). Master's Degree in Corporate and Business Law (Católica Porto School of Law, 2009).
