Maria da Assunção da Cunha Reis has joined Morais Leitão in 2012. She is a member of the intellectual property, technology and personal data department.
Assunção began her career in ML banking and finance team and was part of the criminal, regulatory offences and compliance department for more than a decade. Alongside her active participation in various criminal and regulatory offence proceedings, Assunção has developed expertise in the area of privacy and data protection, and currently focuses her activity in this area.
Assunção works with several companies on a wide range of privacy and data protection issues, from creating compliance policies and programmes to carrying out audits, reviewing contracts and forms and analysing complex legal issues. With extensive experience in litigation, Assunção also monitors criminal and regulatory offence proceedings related to data protection violations, enabling her to provide a 360° service to her clients. In this context, Assunção has specific sector experience in the telco, banking, and retail.
