João Torroaes Valente is a partner at Morais Leitão, where he is head of the corporate real estate and tourism department.
He regularly advises national and foreign investors on corporate real estate transactions, including the development and sale and purchase of shopping centres, retail parks, offices, and logistic, residential and tourism projects and mortgaged backed credits (secured NPLs) and repossessed assets (REOs). In the area of corporate law, he focused on the structuring of joint ventures and investment vehicles to implement and finance international and multi-jurisdictional real estate investment projects, acting both for Portuguese and foreign clients.
He has assisted innumerous investors on some of the largest and most relevant corporate real estate transactions in Portugal during the last 15 years. He is proud to be consistently recognized by international legal directories (such as Chambers & Partners, The Legal 500, etc.) as a leading lawyer in Portugal for corporate real estate and tourism.
Over the years, he has participated on a regular basis as a speaker in seminars and conferences regarding trends and particular issues of the sector. He frequently writes for specialized and renowned real estate magazines such as Vida Imobiliária and Iberian Property.
